The Return of the Kings - February 28, 2004

On February 28th of 2004 the Edmonton dojo hosted "The Return of the Kings" club tournament.

Part of the tournament title referred to the Colored belt and Black Belt Grand Champions who had to bring back the Grand Champion flags they won at the last club event in Sylvan Lake and try to defend them once more. The past winners, Brandon Waldo for Black belt and Curtis Middleton for Colored belt competed well, but in the end the day saw two new winners. Colton methurst for Colored belt Grand Champion and Justin Rehm for Black Belt Grand Champion. They will get to hoist the flag up in there home dojo until the next club tournament.

But the leap year tournament also saw the Return of many more so called "Kings" and "Queens" as over 90 Arashi-Do competitors from all 8 schools, ages 4 and up tested themselves, sometimes in "David and Goliath" matches and often in front of a nerve racking 100 other club mates and spectators.

Even with these challenges the Chief Instructors and Main Senseis, judges and referees were pleases with the sportsmanship, control and courage demonstrated by all competitors.

Congratulations and thank you all for supporting one another and attending our own club tournament.

Sincerely,
Sensei Chris Bonde
